Events: Effie Turns One

I can’t believe it’s been a year since this little one was only a few days old and I was photographing her in the Chicago apartment where she spent the better part of her first year of life.  Just a few weeks before she hit the one year mark her parents packed up that apartment trading life in Chiberia for Pure Michigan and the opportunity to have more space and be closer to family.  I know Chicago will always have a special place in their heart, but I am happy for them as they start this new chapter in their lives.  I was so excited that my family got to spend the weekend with theirs and that I was on hand to capture some amazing images of Eleanora Fagan, Effie’s, Rainbow Tea Party celebrating her first birthday.  The birthday girl wore a Pinterest worthy rainbow tutu and crown headband, both handcrafted by her super talented mother.  It was truly a family affair with folks arriving early to help put the finishing touches on the decorations and food.  For their efforts the guests were treated to variety of tea choices and finger sandwiches and some amazing carrot cake cupcakes.  I lost count of how many I ate myself.  I made sure to get some family portraits, including one of just mom and dad.  It’s always something of a relief to get through the first year and realizing you came out the other side of the sleepless nights, diaper blowouts, monster spit ups and you’re still smiling!  All of the required birthday activities were accounted for – a perplexed, but delighted to be the center of attention, Effie was presented her own cupcake complete with a glittery candle in the shape of a 1.  Followed by presents, including a trek to the shed to be presented with her very own trampoline ball pit and then ending the afternoon with a tea party for two.  Eleanora is such a beautiful little girl inside and out.  She is constantly amused and delighted and such a ham for the camera, instantly posing just so when she spotted the lens or heard the shutter.  I’m so happy to have been able to see her grow so much this past year and I look forward to seeing how she continues to grow in the years to come.  Happy Birthday Effie!

And one last image, because it’s so amazing to see how much can change in a year and how much can stay the same.
