Fine Art: Carnival

While perusing Facebook I came across some images my friend Laurie of Wild and Precious Life Photography had captured and immediately came down with a case of severe Carnival Photo Envy.  The only cure (as I was fresh out of cowbell) was a family trip to the Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club Carnival!  It was an amazing evening.  We arrived just before dusk as I wanted to make sure Evie got a chance to see everything in a good mood before it got to be past her bedtime and crankiness set in.  I needn’t have worried, she was enthralled the entire time, oohing and ahhhing as the sun set and the lights came on, bouncing to the music, pointing to the crowds, stealing bites of corn dog and funnel cake.  By the end I think she was running on adrenaline and powdered sugar raising her fists in the air and crowing with delight.  There was no need to play games or ride rides, it was enough to just soak in the atmosphere and enjoy all the new colors, sights and sounds and feel that giddiness that seems to hit as soon as you enter the fair grounds.   It was a perfect, beautiful summer night that left you with the type of exhaustion that only comes with having too much fun!  I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Excited toddler!

Tried out a few manual focus shots of the Ferris Wheel!  Love!

This is one of my favorites.  For all of its “technical flaws” it is just perfect to me.  It’s exactly what the night was like.
