Photographing Laura Tanner Jewelry for the upcoming Crave Chicago Guidebook was like being a kid in a candy store. I would have been more than content to just spend hours perusing the snapshots and pictures papering the walls of Laura’s eclectically decorated attic studio, examining knick knacks and giving ear scritches to the resident studio cat.
As it was I got plenty of play time and I had a blast. Laura could not have been nicer, and how pretty is she? The whole time I was thinking with her dark hair and pale skin she could have walked out of a pre-raphaelite painting.
She is also extremely talented as evidenced by her gorgeous jewelry. I could not get enough of handling the brightly colored bracelets and delicate neckaces. I am not one to go for cookie cutter accessories and so I really appreciated (and salivated over) the uniqueness of her jewelry. She uses precious gem stones, and quality metals and it was clear by the excitemet in her eyes as she showed me each piece how much care goes into her craft, each item is special to her and so becomes special to the wearer. Each time something new was pulled out I was in awe, and the business card she gave me I passed directly to my husband when I got home. After all it’s only four short months until Christmas! So be sure to visit her website and start your wish lists 🙂
