Redeye Photo Challenge — Memories

Next weeks challenge theme is “Hot” which is terribly appropriate because that’s exactly what its been here, HOT!  I’m talking a heat index of 115 which has basically made me completely unproductive.  It’s been hard to muster up the energy to do much more than drink water and stay completely still on the couch (No AC in our lovely vintage apartment!).  Thanks to some raging thunderstorms though, it’s finally cooled off and I’ve managed to run some errands and tackle the laundry pile that threatened to take over!  The cooler temps are almost worth the hysterical dog and 8 hours without power.  So now that I’ve got some energy back I can catch up with my posting!

This weeks theme was “Memories”.  I did make the list, lucky number 13.  I was really hesitant to enter this photo as I love it so much and I knew I’d be disappointed if it didn’t make the finals at least, and I was, missed it by two!  I captured this image this last April in Paris and it means a lot of things to me.  It brings back memories of an amazing trip with my favorite traveling partner who thinks this image may be one of the best I’ve ever taken.  I love the look of this man, he looks like a memory, there’s something deep in his face, like his story is etched there.  Viewing this image I’m back on the Pont Des Arts in the warm spring air, holding hands with my love and listening to one of the most romantic sounds, a french song played on an accordion.  I used to think the the accordion in general was romantic, that is until I was walking down the street in Chicago and heard an accordion blasting polka.  That is a whole different vibe!   French music on an accordion, once you hear it, even if you’ve never been to Paris, you’ll feel as if you have been.  Ah, la vie en rose.
