A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to buy tickets to Florence and the Machine at the Aragon Ballroom from my friend Laurie. I felt bad that she wasn’t able to use them, it ended up working out great though, you can read her Florence & The Machine post here. I hadn’t been to a concert in a long time and Thomas and I had just been talking about needing to get out and see a show in one of the many great venues Chicago has to offer. This seemed perfect, I’d been an admirer of Flo and we were both excited about seeing her live. Confession time — I like music of course, but I’m more a music in the background type. I rarely just sit and listen to music for music’s sake and I was a little worried (and guilty) thinking that I might just not get into it. That the crowd and the standing would just not be my thing and that I might not have a good time.
I was so wrong, I am a total convert and an official fangirl now! It was an AMAZING show, I was buzzing afterward from all of the energy — just incredible. For the entire set I was on my feet, jumping, screaming, singing along — I could understand why the girls in front of us were having a religious experience and about to start speaking in tongues. I’m so glad I got to be at this show and that I realized how much I love live music. Even better, this was the first concert Thomas and I have ever been to together. Nearly nine years later and it’s still new 🙂
