Lincoln Park Zoo Engagement: Elizabeth & Deskin

On their two year anniversary I was lucky enough to photograph Elizabeth and Deskin exactly one week after getting engaged.  I met Deskin a fellow photographer (Deskin Jones Photography) while taking classes at the Chicago Photography Academy last year and came to know Elizabeth soon after.  They are both genuinely and generously kind with a great sense of fun and humor.  In their two years together they’ve shared together in  the adventure of travel and marathons — so it is no surprise to me that now they are embarking on the ultimate adventure together by spending the rest of their lives together.  Since beginning my journey as a photographer I have had many wonderful experiences, made so especially by the people I have met.  I am proud to call Elizabeth and Deskin friends and was honored to have the opportunity to photograph their Lincoln Park Zoo engagement session.  Elizabeth & Deskin, I wish you nothing but happiness and I’m so happy that Rocket the dog is going to have a father and a mother now 🙂

We were blessed with gorgeous weather and beautiful locations.  The area around Lincoln Park Zoo is filled with pockets of hidden areas perfect for photographs.

Seriously, how gorgeous is Elizabeth?  She’s going to be an incredible bride!

We had some fun at the Lincoln Park Conservatory too.

We set up a nice little scene on the vast lawn in front of the Conservatory.  It worked out well, and it’s actually one of Deskin’s favorite spots in the city.

My favorite spot was the carousel in the zoo.  They let us ride as long as we wanted which was great, although I was a bit dizzy after four rides!  Also, let the record show – they both got to ride their favorite animals.  Elizabeth picked the giraffe and Deskin’s was the African Wild Dog 🙂

The Nature Boardwalk is a beautiful and fairly new addition to the Lincoln Park Zoo and although it was getting late I’m glad we didn’t skip it, we got some beautiful images there!  It was the perfect end to a perfect day.

I’ll end this post with my favorite image of the day.  In the meantime, you can see more images here!
