Redeye Photo Challenge — Black & White

You can see the gallery of this weeks finalists and winners here!  Yours truly is #21.  I had a lot of photos I could have chosen for this weeks contest, but I wanted to be clever about it rather than just submit one of my black & white photos.  I had a few animal ones I debated submitting, but my husband thought that was too obvious — which is hilarious because the winning photo was of a dalmatian!

So, in my cleverness I submitted this image of my vintage brownie camera, a black and white camera that takes black and white photos!  Now, I am truly a photographer of the digital age.  I love the instant gratification of seeing what works and what doesn’t immediately, and the no muss no fuss of digital post processing.  There is something terribly romantic about film though.  I’m thinking that I would like to track down a plain ole SLR, no D and try my hand at film photography.  I think it would be a great challenge and would probably help me learn my settings better, sort of taking the safety net away.  I only wish I had access to a darkroom.

This image also gave me an idea for some summer blog posts.  I have several vintage and second-hand stores that I’m always finding great things at, like this camera.  Now that it’s summer the fun really begins because it’s yard sale season!  So I’ll be sharing some of my best finds on the blog, stay tuned….
