So you may have heard, Chicago had a blizzard last week. It was immense and crazy and just a little bit exciting. Not so exciting? Coming home to snow in the house due to my husband not closing all the storm windows when I asked him to do so in October! But I digress. It was kind of fun to have all that snow, to come downtown to a quiet city. To stand in the middle of the street and take photos and not worry about being run down by a cab.
Saturday was kind of annoying because all the packed snow was hell on my knees when I attempted my long run, no matter, we had a lovely family walk to the lake instead. In fact we had a lovely family walk on the lake, which was a fun adventure for us. It was crazy to walk around piers that are normally submerged in six feet of water. The air was crisp and the sun was shining, I’d even go so far as to say it was nice out!
Sunday I woke up to snow and I decided to go with it. I pulled my under armour pants on over my jammies and headed to the lake. I got some amazing images of the lovely trees, enjoyed the fresh air and serene, unbroken quiet.
However, when it started to snow AGAIN on Monday, I was done! I am so over this snow! I am over bitter cold temperatures. I am over having to do all my runs on the treadmill. O-V-E-R I-T ! So I am ingnoring the snow and dreaming of Europe in the Spring where I will be spending a week in Paris and Rome. So until I am on a plane headed away from snow and cold, this is my happy place…
