I would describe myself as a runner. I completed my first half marathon this year and I’ve signed up for my first marathon in March. I don’t always feel like running, but I’m always glad I went. I’m really trying not to be that runner, who insists everyone everywhere should try running because they’ll LOVE it! I do think it’s the best workout though and I firmly believe everyone should run a 5K at least once in their life. It’s a manageable distance and there is just something so addicting about races, the adrenaline, the people, the cheering, the free goodies and the sense of accomplishment when you cross that finish line!
While I mainly prefer to run alone I was always a little jealous of the couples I would see running together, but my husband insisted he wasn’t a runner and that he couldn’t run a 5K. I hate it when people say they can’t do something they’ve never tried, especially when I know they can! So using my expert powers of persuasion I talked my husband and a few friends into doing the Santa Hustle 5K. It was a great race, despite some questionable weather everyone was in great spirits, maybe because everyone was dressed as Santa Claus, it’s impossible to grumpy surrounded by 3,000 Santas, it was quite a sight! I am also super proud of Thomas, he did something he insisted he couldn’t and he did it in the first snowfall of the year, kind of badass running your first 5K in snow and slush and twenty degree weather 🙂 Now he’s already talking about doing better next time! Bwahahaha, from never to next time, nicely done I think.
