Boozie Warriors

I have been fortunate to be close friends with the same group of girls since high school.  We were spread out during our college years, but still bound together by our new nickname The Boozies, which has stuck despite the fact that we are not quite the binge drinking rock stars that we were six years ago!

The Boozies all together at my wedding

We don’t get to see each other as much as we’d like to now that we’ve got distance,  jobs,  marriages, kids and dogs sucking up all of our time and energy, but we did make plans to have a reunion at the Warrior Dash, an epic 3 mile race that involves clamoring over trucks and hay bales, scaling walls and wading through water, mud and muck.  We were two boozies down from the start, leaving 5 of us, then two boozies had to drop out at the last minute 🙁  But we all were together in spirit. Ebonee, Kristin and I rocked the Boozie shirts and the Boozie spirit in honor of our comrades Pheniece, Wendy, Tara, and Jacqi.  We ran together, we scaled together, we dove head first in the mud together and took turns leading the way through obstacle after obstacle.    When one hesitated, another forged the way.  We were able to capture most of the fun with  a water proof disposable camera (oh how I missed being able to choose the settings though!)

It was gross, hot, muddy and AWESOME!  We were covered in mud, and were amped up beyond belief at the finish.  We celebrated with dry underwear, beer, and turkey legs.  We’re hoping next year we can everyone and their men to participate and make it a thing.  Life goes so fast, it’s hard sometimes to fit your friends in, but it is so important.

I had an amazing girls weekend and I can’t wait to see the ENTIRE Boozie gang at Ebonee’s wedding in two weeks.  Maybe we can can find a muddy river to wade through for a redo:)
